Bad batch of pellets this year

"I have used Jiffy peat pellets for years and have always had good success sprouting seeds, but this year every single pellet produced a stunted seedling. I did nothing different from prior years, everything was exactly the same, and every single pellet produced a tiny unusable plant that never grew beyond a few millimeters high even after a month of waiting. They are not dying, but neither are they growing. It's very bizarre. I'm wondering if there was some kind of fungal contamination in this year‘s batch of Jiffy peat pellets. I'm giving them two stars instead of one because I have had success in all prior years, but consistency needs to be high for me to continue using them and recommending them to others."
