Ingredients and Tools:
Ingredients for Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup fresh rinsed basil leaves
Tools and Utensils needed:
Saucepan (to make the simple syrup)
Sterilized glass bottle with stopper (to store simple syrup)
1 cocktail mixer
1 jigger
Coup glasses or Nik & Nora glasses (5-7 ounce glasses)
Cocktail Ingredients:
Basil Simple Syrup
Blanco Tequila
Green Chartreuse Liquor
Lime Juice
Ice (to fill cocktail mixer)
Lime slices (for garnish)
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water. For a standard batch, use 1 cup of each.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pan from heat.
Add fresh basil leaves (rinse first in cold water). You can adjust the amount of basil based on how strong you want the flavor to be in your syrup.
Drain syrup through a strainer into a sterilized glass jar or bottle. Discard basil leaves. Let cool, then cover. Store in refrigerator for 1 week or in freezer for 1-2 months.
Basil Simple Syrup Margarita:
Fill your cocktail shaker with ice, then add 2 oz. of any Blanco Tequila and 1/2 oz. Green Chartreuse.
Add 1 oz. lime juice and 3/4 oz. basil infused simple syrup.
Shake for 10-15 seconds and pour into a glass. Repeat for each cocktail.
Garnish with a slice of lime and sprig of basil.
