Seed can be started indoors any time of year. Barely cover seed and water sparingly until seed germinates. Keep planter covered with glass. Transplant seedlings to other pots. Or, transplant to a sunny, sheltered location.

"New to indoor houseplants (~3 months) and not sure if I did the humidity process right and experimented with a few methods. Out of four packs I bought about 80 sprouts were left, and happy with the results given inexperience and emphasis on experimentation. Kept four of them and gave out the rest, though they practically gave themselves away."

"Cholla is the porcupine of the vegetable world, covered with barbed spines. Pulling them rips the skin. I would buy this if not for the cholla seed. If I grew this, I would without mercy cull out the cholla. Assuming the mix is 1/5th cholla, 4 stars out of 5 for the rest of the mix, as Ferry-Morse seeds are always robust in my experience."

"I used premixed cactus potting soil, and thoroughly soaked it after potting it up. I planted the seeds in small pots, one packet per 2. 5†pot. I next tamped the seeds down gently with the bottom of a drinking glass. I enclosed each pot in a zip baggie and placed them in a bright but not direct sun area. Germination occurred rapidly for some species and gradually almost all seeds sprouted. The tiny succulent cotyledons are out and I am eagerly awaiting their first spines. I can tell the seed sent directly from the company was fresh and healthy. Thanks for the quality product."
