Meet our Host & Contestants

Brian, our host, is the green thumb behind @redleafranch and author of 'Gardening for Abundance'.
He'll guide the contestants through a full harvest-to-table garden season, proving there’s more than one way to grow something great.

Creatively looking for new ways to use her small space, and keep some room for activities for her dog. Ready to shift those planters around to maximize the sun for the win!

Full-time working suburban mom with big garden ambitions and very little time. In possession of landscaping tools and a consistent record of indoor plant failure. Participating in the Great Garden Challenge anyway.

Winging it is basically his whole personality... If something messes with his peace, that's an immediate no. Will he win? He thinks so.

2025 Garden Get-Together - Recipe Thumbnails Mocktail

Edible Flower & Cucumber Faux-Jito

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Serves: 2 to 4

Ingredients

1 Fresh Cucumber
Simple Syrup
Mint Leaves
1-2 Limes, cut into quarters
Soda Water
Use an ice mold with fresh edible flowers for a custom touch!

Instructions

Coat the rim of your glasses in simple syrup and then in your coarse sugar crystals.
Add your slices of cucumber and 1-2 tsp of simple syrup into each glass. Muddle to release cucumber juices.
Add 1/4 - 1/2 lime in each glass, depending on your preference, and muddle to release lime juice.
Add some mint leaves - muddle again!
Add your ice cubes and top off with soda water.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 12 Minutes
Total Time: 17 Minutes
Serves: 2 to 4

Ingredients

1 pound green beans, ends trimmed and cut in half if desired
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 clove garlic minced
Salt and black pepper to taste
3 tablespoons warm water

Instructions

Warm the oil over medium heat in a sauté pan with a lid. Once warm, add the garlic and sauté for 60 to 120 seconds, until fragrant and golden.
Add the green beans to the pan and season generously with salt and pepper, then stir until everything is lightly coated in oil.
Add the warm water to the pan and quickly cover the sauté pan with the lid.
Let the green beans steam, covered, for 4 to 5 minutes, letting them steam longer if they are thicker.
Uncover the green beans and stir well.
Sauté the green beans for an additional 4 to 5 minutes, or until they are tender or cooked to your liking.
Serve warm, and as desired. These green beans are best served fresh, but you can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
