What makes our organic seeds organic?
In order to be considered organic, the seeds must be handled in accordance with certain procedures. The procedures that must be followed include:
- not being treated in any way
- type of fertilizer that can be used (ex. manure instead of processed fertilizer)
- type of weed prevention utilized (ex. hand weeding or using a cultivator instead of spraying)
- other kinds of natural processing techniques
Conventional, or non-organic, seed could have been produced using fertilizers or weed control which are not allowed during organic production.
Every Ferry Morse organic seed is produced from plants grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Like all Ferry Morse seeds, our organic seeds are also non-GMO. You will know if the seeds you are purchasing are organic because they will be labeled as such.
