In cooler climates, plant from spring to early summer. In warmer climates, plant from fall to spring. Select a sunny spot receiving at least six hours of full sun daily. Prepare the planting area by removing sod and weeds. Sow seeds by broadcasting—evenly hand-scattering seeds mixed with a carrier material like sand or peat moss. Or, in cold climates, consider frost seeding by broadcasting seeds over snow-covered soil on a sunny, late-winter day, leveraging the melting snow to settle the seeds into the soil. Sow seeds at the recommended rate, ensuring good seed-to-soil contact. Keep soil consistently moist until seeds sprout. In hot weather, water daily. Expect a period of establishment that can last from one to three growing seasons. Allow plants to flower and reseed to maintain the garden and support pollinators.

"We are loving the beautiful variety of colors this seed mix has brought to our prairie! The packing was strong with no holes and made its way to use safely. We are in Minnesota so are a bit later than others in our growing season, and had some dry times that seemed to delay the growth. Note that it was also added to an existing prairie so had to compete with some existing grasses. Even though it took a bit to get going, it is a gorgeous mix and more keeps appearing every day! "I planted these a little over a week ago. I planted them inside in a small container. I can transfer outside when it is warm enough and eventually plant in my garden. The seeds started to germinate within 36 hours of planting. I would guess at least an 80% germination rate. I am very excited to see all the fauna I get with these flowers.
