Instructions Chevron Down Chevron Forward

Grows in well-drained soil that’s rich in organic matter or humus. Water thoroughly once per week or more frequently as needed to maintain high moisture levels, but not saturated. To prevent diseases, try not to wet leaves or water in the morning to allow them to dry during the day. Plant in spring or fall for best results. Dig a wide, not deep hole—approximately two feet across and one-foot deep. This variety is well-suited for containers with high-quality, bright, indirect light from a south-facing window or from an east-facing window. Alternatively, use a grow light. Plant in a pot with a drainage hole and water when the soil is dry to three inches down—you can test with a soil moisture meter.

Suggestions Chevron Down Chevron Forward

Maintain pink flowers with a soil pH of 6 or more. Use a pH meter to help. (If pH is too high, flowers might turn another color.) Prune immediately after flowering in later summer. Remove dead or weak stems. Avoid pruning after August 1. Once the flower heads turn brown, cut them off. Dried flowers may be used in decorative arrangements. Winter injury, too much shade, too much nitrogen, and poor soil fertility can prevent blooming. Susceptible to Cercospora leaf spot, anthracnose, and powdery mildew. Insect pests are aphids, leaf tiers, and rose chafers.
