Product Information

Georgia Southern Collards Greens are dark, blue-green stemmed plants.

They form a large, open head of leaves high in vitamins A, B1, B2, and C. These collards are particularly valuable in the south for winter greens.

Key Features

Flavor: Mild flavor improves with light frost.

Preparation Ideas: Put these leaves in a pot with enough water to cover them and add 1/2 cup of salt before letting them soak.

Plant Type: Vegetable

Fill Weight (grams): 2.5

Instructions

You can start Georgia Southern Collards Greens seeds indoors 6 weeks before the last killing frost in the spring. Or you can sow 2 Georgia Southern Collards Greens seeds together every 4". Thin to 1 plant every 2' when seedlings are 2" tall.

Planting Depth: .25-.5"

Seed Spacing: Sow Georgia Southern Collards Greens seeds roughly 2' apart.

Suggestions

Save thinning of young plants to eat early as fresh, tender greens. A light frost improves the flavor of the collards and will not injure leaves.
