The fruits of Eggplant Early Long Purple are long and slightly bulbous. Near maturity the eggplant will deepen to a rich purple. These slender fruits are low in calories, high in vitamins A, B, and C. It is very easy to slice the meaty fruits these plants produce very prolifically.

Start seeds indoors in a warm, sunny location 8-10 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Wait 3 weeks after frost to transplant outside. Or, in warmer climates, sow directly into the garden. Eggplant requires full sun and rich, fertile, well-drained soil.
You can tell when eggplant is ripe by its glossy purple look. Harvest fruits while still shiny. Cut from the stem with a knife.
